The basics of sketching: using a poseable mannequin
Using a mannequin as a guide, the students were taught how to sketch it. They learned about the direction of the light source, and shading the shadowy areas, as well as the proportions of the human body.
Tie dye
Tie dying is an unique art form that produces pieces that are unique to each person. Here, the students learn how to make a simple spiral design on a plain white tee. The results are stunning! It was certainly something different from the classic method of pencil and paper.
Who's behind the mask?
For this interesting art project, the students were allowed to let their creativity flow by designing and painting their own masks. Firstly, using an online art software, they drafted their first version of their masks. They then transferred it onto the paper and used the paints to make it come to life. Satisfied with the final product, they then painted onto the mask directly.
Practicing the strokes
The younger ones practiced their strokes on simple pictures, remembering to stay in the lines as well as painting in one direction. They were also taught the places of light and dark on their paintings, and to mix different colours to achieve a darker/lighter shade.
